What does it mean to vote with your dollar?

What does it mean to vote with your dollar?

What does it mean to vote with your dollar?

Each dollar you spend (or don't) you are casting a vote... and the marketplace is the ballot box.

When you buy something from the grocery store essentially you are casting a vote towards more healthy or unhealthy food depending on what you spend your money on. The more you support healthy businesses the more the stores will stock up and invest in those companies. You can help show companies that their customers think it’s worth it to pay a little bit extra, in hopes that they will continue to pursue carrying more and more organic products, grass-fed meats, and ethically & sustainably produced products.

Are you putting your votes toward products, businesses (business people), and movements that align with your values?

While this type of “support” may feel microscopic, voting responsibly with your dollars is something that can be done every day. How empowering is that? You can help improve our broken food system!

Where you shop and what you buy when you do sends a direct message. So vote with your dollar!
